What Is a Party Vendor?

A party vendor is a business or individual a host hires to provide catering, entertainment, decor, or equipment for a private event.

Caterers, bakers, DJs, photographers, florists, bartenders, face painters, and bounce house rentals all fall under the category.

Party vendors work birthdays, weddings, baby showers, graduations, backyard gatherings, and corporate parties. Some cover one thing, like a taco cart or a photo booth. Others bundle several services together.

The difference between a party vendor and a market vendor is who pays. A market vendor pays an organizer for a booth and sells to the public. A party vendor gets paid by the host and serves that host's guests.

Most party vendors charge a flat rate or a per guest price, take a deposit up front, and require a signed agreement before the date is held.
